Canada study permit and PGWP Update

Major study visa and work visa changes for  International students are coming this Fall 2020.

Students will be able to enrol in online courses while studying abroad and still be eligible for  Post-Graduation Work Permit after moving to Canada.

Given coronavirus related travel interruptions around the world, IRCC is now allowing international students to study online while overseas and still they will be eligible to apply for the post graduation work permit after graduation.

According to new guidelines students will be able to complete 50 per of the program online even if they are abroad , and still will be able to obtain PGWP in canada.

Moreover up to December 31, 2020, time also wont be deducted from the length of their PGWP means if you are enrolled in 2 years of course and you study 1 year in your own country and do another year in canada . 


Prior to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the over 640,000 international students in Canada were contributing $22 billion annually to the economy and supporting some 170,000 Canadian jobs.
